Haqeeqat Benakaab (Reality without covering)..
Courage of conviction
Part 17
Sharad Chandra & Shubh Chintak Kishore
In my candid opinion the person who is respected is the one who is firm of his/her
opinion and has courage to uphold his/her conviction. The more odd circumstances
through which he/she has to pass, and more that person stands to his/her
conviction, the greater is the respect that person commands.
I recall Rev. Babuji’s times when lot of people were proclaiming their allegiance and
love for Him – their Master, but they lacked courage.
In February 1982, when Rev. Babuji asked me to reconstitute the Mission ’s Working
Committee list, I suggested names for inclusion in that list which were more vocal
about their love for Him. In that connection He asked me to delete the names of
Chari and his brother Kodandu suggested by me, saying that both these brothers
would create problem for me. But, I soon realized after His mahasamadhi, that there
was hardly a name who would have the courage to stand with their oft-repeated
conviction of love and allegiance for Him after His physical veiling. Leave aside
Prakash Bhai Saheb, His eldest son, and Dr. S.P. Srivastava for a limited period, all
others were quick to loose their conviction. Nobody would care for my views, being
in dire minority.
Rev. Babuji told me His opinion that only one or two persons were in any institution
who has the courage to hold their conviction. It is His Grace that He holds dear
Sharad and myself in His high esteem. This emboldens us to say in all humility that
for this reason we have been able to have courage of our conviction that he alone is
worthy of love. May His Grace continue to guide us in the path laid down by Him
for us.
Delhi & Chennai ( India ) Amen
